![]() Everything else that is associated with Hanukkah has just sprung up as custom over the millennia. The only theological obligation on Hanukkah is lighting the candles on the menorah for each of the holiday's eight nights - the centerpiece of the holiday. During most religious holidays, observant Jews have to abide by the same rules they do on Shabbat (Saturdays): no work, restricted use of technology, etc. ![]() Here is how not-important Hanukkah is, from a religious standpoint, to Judaism. This video, on the other hand, is a joke: Ch- is sort of an approximation, but starting with the H- is just fine. And that phlegmy, back-of-the-throat hhhhhh sound that starts the word? No one has yet figured out how to transcribe that into English letters. There's no phonetic difference between a k and a kk, or between an -a and an -ah. So any transliteration to English is just an attempt to represent what the word sounds like in Hebrew. Hanukkah traditionally appears in Hebrew characters (חנוכה) or in Yiddish (which uses the Hebrew alphabet). The reason for the confusion, of course, is the English alphabet. But said team's members argue that Chanukah is correct, because it's the "traditional" spelling, while others assert Hanukkah is the correct "American" spelling. After all, it's not a slight to Team Chanukah to say that spelling it with a Ch- is just as correct as starting with H. You'd think people would be able to live and let live on this one. There is no right way to spell Hanukah/Hanukkah/Chanukah/Chanukkah/ChanukkaĪll of these spellings are correct. Here's what Hanukkah is, what it isn't, and what it can be sometimes but doesn't have to be. As a matter of fact, the Maccabees themselves - the heroes of the Hanukkah story - would probably be downright angry over what the holiday's become. ![]() Hanukkah is such a big deal in America - there's a menorah lighting on the National Mall, for Pete's sake! - that you'd be forgiven for assuming it has always been the most wonderful time of the Jewish year. Leaving the context help displayed makes it quick to learn.Hanukkah, which started on the evening of December 2nd, was probably the first Jewish holiday you heard of, whether you're Jewish or not. There's a bit of learning curve to the controller, but the stock keybindings for it encompass almost everything you'd do without mods, using the shoulder buttons as modifiers like shift/alt. In my ideal world, I'd use pedals with the controller, but with my current set, I don't have a way to use them without the wheel also being active. It's a bit lighter and never having to swap/charge batteries is nice. I use a wired one because I sit directly next to my computer. And it's super portable, doesn't chew up a lot of desk space or require setup/breakdown if you don't have a dedicated gaming desk. Running a front loader is reasonably easy. Walking is super intuitive (not so much with a wheel). ![]() You can change your 3rd person perspective while steering. With the dual analog sticks and dual analog triggers, the xbox controller is hard to beat. The wheel is great for racing and truck sims, but I found it's not easy to do everything from a wheel without also having multiple sticks. I have a G920 wheel, and it's fun in FS, but I end up just using an XBox controller for FS.
